uniform in a bag with your name and collect your uniform signed agreement once you have returned your uniform. That is
your receipt and proof of return.
5) I will be submitting
debt cards to the Activities Office on Friday for another who does not turn in their uniform.
6) I will announce the
athletes competing at the District championship on Thursday, Jan. 19th, 2012 - please check the website for the announcement.
7) Only those athletes
will be allowed to practice with the team going forward.
8) District Entries
are due on Sunday, Jan. 22nd - if, you do not turn your uniform this week - you will not be attending the championship, you
will not be lettering and you will owe the team and school for your uniforms.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Thank you for all the parents who attended the Meet the Coaches last night. It was great
meeting and speaking with you.
THERE ARE NO TRACK AND FIELD PRACTICES ON WEDNESDAY, NOV. 23RD, 2011.
Few team items and updates.
1) Below are the shifts for the Christmas Tree Sales. The track and field team is responsible for working all day
Saturday, Nov. 26th. If, you're going to be missing the event because you're out of time. You need to let me know. Also,
we need parents working the shifts with the kids.
2) Please email me to get a copy of the team fundraiser. We use the money from this fundraiser to pay for our invitational
track and field meets. Please contact me with any questions. Email: gcmtrack@gmail.com
3) I will post on the website the things (timing, field events and scoring) we need volunteers at the
track and field meets either tonight or tomorrow.
4) Team pictures are Nov. 29th - we will iusse you uniforms on that day before pictures. If, you owe Cross-country unifoms
or the Spring track and field uniforms- you will not be getting any new ones. Please return the uniforms ASAP.
5) First track and field meet - Saturday, Dec. 3rd - all athletes will be attending.
Welcome all to the 2011 - 2012 Winter track and field season.
Monday, Nov. 14th, 2011 is the final day to submit all paperwork and become a member
of team.
1) Please return weather you will be attending Lynchburg College – Wally
Gilbert Invitational - Dec. 10th, 2011. The deadline to return permission slipped is Wednesday, Nov. 16th.
2) All spirit pack orders are due, Friday, Nov. 18th, 2011. Parents you can order stuff

MANDATORY PARENT/STUDENT CONCUSSION EDUCATION PROGRAM
Starting with the 2011-2012 school year, ALL student-athletes AND their parent/guardian will be required by Virginia
law to participate in a MANDATORY concussion education program.
The education program must be completed by both the student and parent/guardian prior to the student participating
on any FCPS sponsored team.

Coaches, The track is postponed for today. We will run timed finals tomorrow night, slowest
to fastest, and start the running events at 6:30. New heat sheets and event schedule will go out this afternoon. Field
events will start at 4:30, all field events will have 4 attempts no finals. Except for Pole Vault and High Jump. The 4X800
relay will run on Thursday afternoon at 5pm. If we get rained out tomorrow night we move to Saturday, Field events
at 9am, Running events at 1:00pm. In this case we would run the 4X800 relay on Friday afternoon 5pm.

Marshall Track Alum Runs for Fairfax County School Board
Ryan McElveen was a
Marshall track athlete between 2002 and 2004, and on Monday, April 4, he announced his candidacy for an at-large position
on the Fairfax County School Board. While on Marshall track, Ryan won the Best Newcomer Award in 2002 and the David Lin Award

Senior Celebration - Monday, May 9th after practice
Parents & Athletes,
We will be having a graduation party for the seniors on Monday, May 9th in the cafeteria around 4:00-5:00, right
after practice.
Parents, please expect practice to end a little late for the celebration.
We will have cake and will be recognizing our seniors from winter and spring track and field for their dedication
and hardwork.
Parents of the seniors are required/high recommended to be there.

With no track yesterday or today here is the situation……
We will hold the meet at PG on Tues (Feb.1st) and Thurs (Feb. 3rd) next week.
I will be working on the revised schedule. All the events scheduled to be run this week (and were cancelled) will be
run on Tuesday. The schedule for Thursday will remain the same. The meet on Tuesday will begin at 4:30.
Teams will be allowed to get into the field house at 3pm.
Coaches-please be aware that we will lose officials b/c of the change in schedule and other district meets going on.
Coaches may be required to run events in order to get this in.
The Liberty and Concorde Boys PV will be combined on Tuesday. Starting height will be 8’9.
The bleachers on the backstretch will be open so warm-up space will be limited.

Regional Champs - Day One - Senior Brittany Johnson placed 2nd in the Long Jump with the 2nd longest
jump in school history 17ft 11.25in. Miss taking the regional crown by one inch. She is the fastest qualifier going into the
200m dash final and the 2nd fastest qualifier in 100m dash final.
Also, Junior Marshe Williams qualified for the 400m dash finals.
**All uniforms need to be turned in to Coach Wong on Monday,
Feb. 22nd, 2010. I will be providing a list to the spring coaches of athletes who has not turned in their uniform to me.
